Haute Couture Salon
Haute couture fashion designer Anikó Németh started her brand Manier in 1992 and opened her fashion house in 1996 in Váci utca, in Budapest's downtown, movIing both her salon and showroom in 2010 to the new Opera Fashion District.
Made-to- order designs created In Anikó Németh's Manier's Haute Couture Salon include eveningwear, wedding dresses, performance outfits, corsets, as well as costumes for dance, film and opera. Anikó Németh with the collaboration of Katalin Illés also designs and produces accessories, including designer jewelry, hats and other head decorations, handbags, and shoes.
The salon's speciall atmosphere and decoration and array of unusual fabric, forms and colors is designed to inspire visitors to revisit their old role-playing dreams. It combines the world of "Alice in Wonderland" with secret finds from "grandma's attic," and the reminiscence and mood of the baby's room, along with the collector's mania.
The name Manier has its origin in both the French manière 'manner' and the Italian maniera 'handcrafted,' underlining that the designer's emphasis is on the 'how' of her designs, inspired by French and English couture traditions, as well as by the 'personality' of hand-crafted items and on the color and space composition and intellectual style employed by the masters of Manierism.
Anikó Németh, who was originally trained as an interior designer, exchanged the broader domain of interior design for that of the clothing world, an intimate world that minimally surrounds individuals. With the objects she designs she aims to bring attention to the joy of life and the happiness of existence, to illustrate a greater breadth of opportunities, and to mediate between the past and the future. In her designs, characterized by openness and passion, she is committed to innovation and experimentation, re-utilizing historical patterns, silhouettes, and craft solutions. Also important for her is collaboration with the other arts, such as the world of contemporary dance, which allows her clothing to be set in motion, and the theater, which can expand their boundaries of interpretation.
